| The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds plays host to several popular annual events including the Georgia Mountain Fair, the Georgia Mountain Roots & Music Festival, the Superstar Concert Series, the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival and Georgia’s Official State Fiddler’s Convention.
The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds are located along the shores of beautiful Lake Chatuge in the north Georgia mountain community of Hiawassee and is only two hours from Atlanta, Greenville, Asheville and Chattanooga. The Fairgrounds offer a wide-variety of unique venues, and beautiful year-round camping facilities.

The musical roots of the Swingin’ Medallions came from listening to the early 1960 rhythm and blues acts. Their most common music genre is beach music, frat rock, R&B, or shaggin’ music. After a few years of touring colleges the group went on to record their first big hit, “Double Shot (of My Baby’s Love)”, becoming a million-seller in 1966. Following their signature song hit the group went on to record, “She Drives Me Out of My Mind” and “Hey, Hey, Baby”, becoming the top 40 hits in 1966 and 1967.

Don Williams 1974 song, “We Should Be Together,” reached number five, and he signed with ABC/Dot Records. His first single with ABC/Dot, “I Wouldn’t Want to Live If You Didn’t Love Me,” became a number one hit, and was the first of a string of top ten hits he had between 1974 and 1991. Only four of his 46 singles didn’t make it to the Top Ten.
